Washed out track session- Tuesday 22/3/2005 and a MAD fella

With the haze enveloping KL yesterday, I was happy I wasn't doing any running this week ; ) Nonetheless my friend Nurotevil insisted on running on the track. "Don't worry lah, looks like rain soon anyway, and when the rain comes it will temporarily wash away the haze". Ok, Nurotevil, if you say so. Lo and behold, on the way to Kampung Pandan it started raining. Still, I wasn't entirely convinced that the rain was heavy enough to ease the haze.

When I arrived, the track gang (including
Azwar, Kenneth, Cecil, Wendy, Ah Toh, Ah Wah etc) were there, on the stands, seeking cover from the rain. It was pouring by them. After asking if anyone was running (to which the answer was "No"), my crazy friend Nurotevil decided that he was going to run anyway. Mad fella. Nurotevil felt that the heavy rain has cleared the air and was sufficient for a run. He took my clima fit cap, and started his laps around the track. Nurotevil still harboured some hopes that Coach will turn up but by 715pm, with the rain pissing down, he realised that speed work today wasn't going to happen. There I was, sitting on the stands, shaking my head (thinking what a mad fella he is) and timing him. He averaged slightly less than 5:00 per km. At one point Kenneth shouted out from the stands "Woi! How many laps already?" To which the mad fella replied "6k!". Nurotevil ran another 4k before stopping for a water break. Total at this point:- 10k. Time: 49:05. By then the rain had subsided and other runners were only starting their runs, including Kenneth. He waited another lap before joining Kenneth, and he ran another 4k with him.

So, the total he ran- 14k. Then, I had to take him to my house where I had to give him dinner as well! Shameless bugger. He whacked so much food for dinner, and I had so little only! Dinner consisted of some chicken, egg foo yong and okra, and he almost wiped everything out! What a glutton. Then he had the audacity to sleep on my bed too! Grrrrrrr.... will kick him out today.

carboman- that will depend on the severity of the haze, man. Hopefully your treadmill in your office is already repaired. Nurotevil will use the gym if the haze gets really bad.
