Asok!

Another week has passed by. I can't say it was a great week as far as workouts are concerned, although it did start promisingly enough with an hour-long RPM class on Monday. Tuesday was just too hectic for me although in hindsight, I really should have gone for a lunch workout at the very least; Wednesday was an hour plus worth of precision cycling. For the uninitiated (in case I haven't told you already), precision cycling is similar to RPM, i.e. a spinning class that is free from the shackles and choreograph constraints of the Les Mills formula. The instructor plays whatever songs, takes you through whatever terrain, lets you rest, etc according to his instructions. It is quite refreshing from the usual humdrum RPM classes because the instructors tend to play the same old songs; boredom does set in very quickly, and to a certain extent, so does one's level of motivation, possibly resulting in a lesser effort expended, thereby reducing the quality of one's workout. I am not too excited about the latest release either. This is probably the poorest release since I started RPMing some 2 years ago.

Anyway, I am digressing. I was talking about my workouts. I was too swarmed on Thursday and Friday, so no workout.

I had spent the entire week fighting the flu. I got it from a colleague who was coughing incessantly. I finally feel better now after a cocktail of vitamins, Scott's Emulsion and medicines the entire week.

Saturday I had planned to go for the 1040am class in Paragon, but when I arrived at 1030am, I found that the class was already full. Kiasu fellas! I lost all mood to workout and met Boon Seng later for lunch. Always good to catch up with you, bro!

Saturday night I went to the Esplanade to watch a musical. It’s a musical based on the various songs of Queen, a British rock band, whose charismatic lead singer, Freddie Mercury died tragically of AIDS. The main character was played by Mig Ayesa, who was a finalist in the reality tv show Rock Star: INXS. Throughout the 3 hours, as the story progressed and moved on from one scene to another, we were treated to hits of Queen, with the lyrics partially changed to suit the scene. There were references to music from the 50s to the 80s, and suitable for most of us of a certain age, i.e. the young at heart. I doubt a teenager or those 25 years old and below would understand references to the older songs. All in all it was a really fantastic performance and well worth the money.

Sunday I was feeling awful for not working out since Wednesday, and I made sure this time I was early for class in order to "book" a bike. I can't believe I have to stoop to their level! It was an hour worth of workout.

Which brings us to today. As I write this, I worked out during lunchtime yesterday- a 30 minute run. I only left the office at 10pm last night, so I was grateful in a sense that I managed to run yesterday. And a RPM class followed by another 40 minute run. So far so good....
