Fartlek
I headed to Bukit Aman yesterday for my run. Seeing that SIM is just 12 days away, I decided to focus on building my endurance as opposed to my speed. Still after plodding along my recent workouts, I wanted to incorporate some form of reasonably hard running into my workout. Not hard to the point of running it like my track sessions, but at a pace slightly below 5:00 per km, and for short bursts only.
Kenny Tan joined me yesterday and when I intimated to him my workout plan, he suggested fartlek. In his own words, we were to "kill the hill", then jog at the downhills, and glide on the flats. So, that was what we did.
We ran the "faster" portions no longer than 5 minutes each time. With the route we took, there were 4-5 hills/slopes. We ran the particular loop twice. The loop was probably 6km or so.
We completed the 2 loops in about 59 minutes, before warming down by running 3 loops around the Bukit Aman carpark.
It was really good to run with Kenny- time just flew, and before I knew it, the workout was over. I want to say that the workout was "short" and sweet, but it did take a little over an hour so I wouldn't classify that as "short". It was sweet, though.
I hope to run at KLCC park today but I could be working late today. If I do work late today, it's Lake Gardens again.
