Timex

I decided to indulge a little and bought myself a Timex. The model is the T56371 or T5B141. I noticed it on Will Ferrell's wrist in the movie Stranger Than Fiction. Yes, I watched it rather belatedly (on HBO) just last week although the movie was released approximately 1.5 years ago. It was Ferrell's foray into more serious acting, and I think he pulled off the role of Harold Crick very well. It was a good movie. And the watch played a pivotal role in the movie.

After doing some online research, I discovered that it was the Timex model you see in the photo shown. I haven't acquainted myself fully with the watch yet, but here are some basic specs:-

• Digital screen can be turned on and off
• 24-hour chronograph with lap and split
• 42-lap memory recall 3 interval timers settable up to 100 minutes with countdown repeat function
• 2 alarms settable for daily or one day
• 2 time zones
• Forward or backward setting
• 12/24 hour time
• Month day date
• INDIGLO night-light
• All-day-white reflector display
• Stainless steel band
• Water resistant to 100 meters

Superficially, after wearing it for an hour or so (and I'm typing this out as we speak), what I can say is this:

The weight is substantial and I certainly wouldn't recommend it for running, since I can assume that we runners do try to run with as little weight as possible. It is also chunky for those who have small wrists. The construction and style of the watch seems more appropriate as a casual watch (i.e. for most activities other than running), which was the reason I bought it in the first place.
