some weekend...my birthday and I wasn't well...
Travelled back to KL last Friday evening on the 7pm bus. Seems like there are many Malaysians doing this on a weekly basis, as the bus is constantly full each time I take it. With First Coach being fully booked for the remainder of July at the Friday 7pm slot, I had little choice but to opt for the more expensive, SGD55 Nice bus that departs from Copthorne Orchid hotel.
I’m truly knackered- this traveling up and down, with my work, and traveling to and fro work has taken a lot out of me. On Wednesday evening last week, after my run and dinner with Boon Seng, I took my shower and suddenly felt extremely dizzy. Dismissing it off as fatigue, I went to bed. I woke up feeling no better, as the dizzy spell continued and my head felt extremely heavy. During lunch hour, I took a quick nap, but I only felt a teeny-weeny bit better after that. My plan for another run/dinner with Boon Seng had to be postponed because my dizziness/headache was really getting to me. I mistook it for a bad migraine. And throughout, there appeared to be a constant buzzing/ringing sound in my left ear.
On Friday, it continued. Whenever I moved, it felt as though the entire world was spinning. If I stayed still then I was fine. On the bus, I slept practically the whole journey. I woke up momentarily to see where I was- Ayer Keroh near Melaka, then shut my eyes again. Next thing I knew, we’ve arrived at the old train station in KL.
Saturday seemed the worse- it was my freakin’ birthday and I was listless. I tried to stay still whenever possible. Had lunch and dinner with my folks. Went to bed early. On Sunday, I packed a little. Felt slightly better. Arrived in Singapore 12am.
I finally relented and decided to see the doctor this morning. He checked my ear and saw that physically, it looked fine, i.e. no ear infection, but he suspects that I might have a viral infection affecting my sense of balance, hence the ringing/buzzing in my ear. He prescribed some meds and gave me 2 days MC! I was shocked at first but evidently the doctor deemed it serious enough to give me the MC. I didn’t visit him expecting to give me an MC. I just wanted my ear to be treated, if it was indeed my ear that needed to be treated. It was unexpected.
I feel bad having to take the MC though. I’m only in my 1st month of work here and I already need to take MC! I’m in a dilemma whether to or not. Should I? I mean, I do feel pretty listless at the moment but that could be due to my tiredness too, not necessarily anything to do with my dizzy spells (I think). Anyway half the day is already gone… but I do have another day’s worth of MC tomorrow… what do I do?
