Crew cut, spartan lifestyle, 2wice a day
Had the pleasurable company of John, Kenny and Kenneth for yesterday's run at Lake Gardens. After the cloud seeding exercise carried out, the haze was greatly reduced, rendering the air quality of an acceptable (and thus runneable) state. I had arranged to meet John and Kenny at 615pm, at the Bukit Aman carpark. I arrived at Bukit Aman at 615pm all ready and suited up for my run, and saw an initially unfamiliar and unrecognisable sight- this fella in the yellow Pacesetters t-shirt with blue bermuda shorts. Then I recognised him- it was John! He had forgotten to bring his usual running clothes (i.e. vest with running shorts); hence his outfit for yesterday. John informed me that he had started earlier, running with Thomas for a short while before meeting me at the car park. We waited 15 minutes for Kenny to turn up but he was nowhere in sight. Finally John called him and Kenny informed us that he was still stuck in a jam in Brickfields. Thinking that it may take at least another 20 minutes or so before Kenny arrived, we decided to take a shorter route, cutting off the Deer Park, and running up the incline and back towards the car park. So that was we did. The run lasted some 20 minutes and we headed back to the car park.
We arrived at the car park and found Kenny's car but Kenny wasn't there. Thomas (who was cooling down) told us that Kenny had started his run with Kenneth a few minutes ago. So John and me decided to headed back the opposite way, to hopefully catch them and join them for the remainder of the run. John estimated that we would catch them somewhere along the public toilets by the Lake, and his prediction turned out to be spot on! We joined them from then on.
Kenneth was in swearing form- F-ing this, KNN-ing that, and he mentioned how the run was called "Larian Dendam" because of work-related stress (as stated in his blog), coupled with the haze, which precluded him from an activity that vented out his work-related stress- RUNNING.
Ran a total of 13k.
I really hope the haze clears up soon. I've been meaning to do some speed work! I think I've done enough mileage (and hence, accumulated sufficient endurance) to handle the interval sessions which I think will help me run faster. Clear up soon, dammit!
