Flab to fit

The weight that I've gained in the last 4 months is slowly coming off. How so? Despite the hectic working schedule, I've made it a point to hit the treadmill whenever I can. Last night for instance, I finished work at 8pm and headed straight to my parents' for dinner. With dinner done by 910pm, I had to wait at least 2 hours for the food to digest. Chatted with my mother, watched some tv and played with the dogs. Then I drove back to my apartment, sorted a few things out, chatted with the wife (who's in Singapore) before hitting the treadmill at 12am. Ran at a 6min per km pace for about 50 minutes. Had my shower and hit the sack only around 140am. Another reason for my weight gain are my lunches. Lunch has primarily been lots of beriyani rice, or fried stuff, which obvously will contribute to your weight gain if you don't burn it off. So far I've managed to to lose 2 kgs. My ideal weight (for running) would be in the region of 57-60 kgs. I've ballooned to about 64kgs, ad now am at 62kgs. At any rate, thin or fat is a point of view. Many of my (non-running) friends remarked how skinny I looked when I was in my so-called "peak" shape, and this same group of friends remarked about how much better I look at 64kgs. I am reminded of a passage in Jim Fixx's book where he quoted someone saying something along the lines of "if people tell you how skinny and gaunt you look, you know you're in shape. If people are telling you how good and "healthy" you look, you know you're out of shape."

Anyway I think it'll be a pretty busy day again today. I expect that I'll leave the office around 8pm again today. Chances are I'll hit the treadmill around 12am again.

Cheerio
