Slumdog Millionaire- what a movie, extremely touching, go watch it
Wow! Its been a busy few weeks with fatherhood, the course in full swing and slotting whatever time I have available for workouts. Last week was busy as I was preparing for a 20 minute presentation- that required a fair amount of research, discussion and preparation, something I haven't done since...law school more than 16 years ago. Also made a couple of trips to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority to sort out my daughter's stay in Malaysia. But I've managed to get in usually a little more than an hour's worth of workout, which is usually in the form of hitting the stationary bike in the apartment gym located on the 1st floor. I've been hitting the bike very often partly for the following reasons:
- I do not want to be far away from my daughter if she needs me;
- My wife goes out to attend to some matters at the same time (leaving Mia alone with the maid);
- The #$%^&* treadmill in the gym is still not repaired;
- Weather's too hot during that particular time I am free to workout (3pm-ish);
- Its raining at the very time I want to run outside, which is usually 630pm-ish;
I must admit that I am thankful to be able to find the time to workout. Some of us extremely busy with work are hardly afforded that time.
Speaking of the weather, it has been extremely hot here. Phew! But interspersed with heavy rain. Does that make sense? Case in point- hot scorching morning today, rained heavily at 1pm, rain stopped around 2pm, scorching hot again, rained at 415pm to 550pm.
Anyway, with the recent announcement in the changes regarding the legal profession (click on this link) it means that the current batch of students in my course will be the very last batch of students before the new changes come into effect. Despite the state of the current economy, the changes were made due to the shortage of lawyers in the country. To make a long story short, there will now be a shorter period of time to be admitted as an advocate & solicitor in Singapore. At any rate it doesn't affect me, and I am on course to be admitted to the Bar here in May 2010, which is a good year and 3 months away.
The term break is coming up though. Because I have lectures on Saturday till 1230pm, I will be taking the 230pm bus back to KL. Should arrive around 730pm.
I have signed up for the Kuala Lumpur City Day Run, which is on 22nd February. It will be the usual 10k route that we runners are so familiar with. Only question is how well we will do over that route. The main part of the route to look out for is the silent killer incline on Jalan Duta. This route brings back memories because if I'm not mistaken, I first met Ronnie, KNN, Jamie, Azwar, Bernice etc at a race there over that route (not sure which race it was though- KL Power Run, perhaps?). The group photo of us sitting on the main roads by Dataran Merdeka, and me clad in gray t-shirt and green shorts is quite nostalgic!
Looking forward to coming back to KL to savour the food too. I miss it.
See you guys soon...
